Ruth and the Great Pumpkin

What do you do with a 75-lb. pumpkin? That was the dilemma Ruth and I recently faced. Our friend Robert Fleming brought us a monster pumpkins he had grown. We set it in front of our house as an ornament. It was the envy of the neighborhood for over a month. Impressive, to say the least. Yesterday we noticed the recycling center was taking pumpkins. I took two smaller ones, which were still pretty hefty, but left the big boy behind while I went to preach a funeral. Three hours later I returned to the house. The great pumpkin was gone. That took me by surprise. When I asked Ruth what happened to the pumpkin, she started telling me a huge tale that left me in shock. Let me shared highlights with you; rolled it into the yard, used a hammer and butcher knife, sliced it into pieces, hauled it to the recycling center, etc. You get the point. I have often said, don't mess with Ruthie. I love this woman. www.john316marshall.com
